摘要: Abstract Early embryonic development features rapid nuclear DNA replication cycles, but lacks mtDNA replication. To meet the high‐energy demands of embryogenesis, mature oocytes are furnished with vast amounts mitochondria and mtDNA. However, cellular machinery driving massive in ovaries remains unknown. Here, we describe a Drosophila AKAP protein, MDI that recruits translation stimulator, La‐related protein (Larp), to mitochondrial outer membrane ovaries. The MDI‐Larp complex promotes synthesis subset nuclear‐encoded proteins by cytosolic ribosomes on surface. MDI‐Larp9s targets include factors, ribosomal proteins, electron‐transport chain subunits. Lack abolishes ovaries, which leads deficiency eggs. Targeting Larp independently restores local rescues phenotypes mdi mutant flies. Our work suggests selective translational boost might be essential for biogenesis during oogenesis.
