摘要: The valorisation of olive oil mill wastewater (OMW) through anaerobic digestion requires identifying the concentration polyphenols (PP) that causes failure process digestion. In addition, advantages possible microbial adaptation, in terms increased methane production, to significant concentrations PP as well kinetics OMW degradation evaluation. To fill these knowledge gaps, batch tests were carried out on three blends and inoculum (digestate from a biogas plant fed with agro-wastes) at 0.5, 1.0 2.0 g l−1 mesophilic conditions. Total inhibition was found (non-adapted group). A positive effect adaptation substrate was, instead, observed for adapted 2.0 g l−1. Methane yields by 70% (PP = 1.0 g l−1) 300% (2.0 g l−1) group compared non-adapted inoculum. results suggest should not be subject high (i.e. higher than about 1 g l−1) due detected. Moreover, given benefits population more evident highest tested, it is advisable allow progressive feeding. Thanks yield, because improved tolerance inhibiting compounds, could viable environmentally sound solution treatment agro-industrial wastewater.
