Community-based intervention to improve dietary habits and promote physical activity among older adults: a cluster randomized trial.

摘要: The fastest growing age group globally is older adults, and preventing the need for long-term nursing care in this important social financial reasons. A population approach to diet physical activity through use of services can play an role prevention. This study examined effectiveness a health program community-dwelling adults aimed at introducing promoting home each individual’s pace, helping participants maintain good dietary habits by keeping self-check sheets, determining whether long-standing unhealthy or less-than-ideal be changed. cluster randomized trial conducted 6 community centers urban involved 92 aged 65–90 years. intervention (3 centers; n = 57) participated “Sumida TAKE10!” which educational incorporating “TAKE10!® Older Adults” program, once every 2 weeks 3 months. control n=35) was subsequently provided with same as crossover group. main outcome measures were changes food intake frequency, frequency score (FFS), variety (DVS), walking exercise. secondary self-rated health, appetite, Tokyo Metropolitan Institute Gerontology (TMIG) Index Competence score. Compared baseline, post-intervention 10 groups (meat, fish/shellfish, eggs, potatoes, fruits, seaweed), FFS, DVS significantly increased group, interaction effects FFS seen between two groups. No significant differences observed baseline Frequency exercise remained unchanged both groups, no difference improvement rate Self-rated Appetite TMIG resulted improved habits, measured DVS, may improve among adults.
