摘要: Objective: Abnormal lipid metabolism and excess accumulation of in non-adipose tissues are defining characteristics obesity its comorbidities. Expression and/or activity stearoyl-CoA desaturase-1 (SCD1), a major regulator metabolism, is increased with the reduction/ablation this enzyme associated an improved metabolic profile. Sterculic oil (SO), obtained from seeds Sterculia feotida tree, contains high concentration cyclopropenoic fatty acids which known inhibitors SCD1. The purpose study was to determine effects SO supplementation on development insulin resistance hyperphagic, obese Otsuka Long-Evans Tokushima Fatty (OLETF) rats. Design & Methods: Rats received either AIN-93G diet (control) or containing 0.5% for 10 weeks. Results: SO did not alter body weight composition. Importantly, desaturase indices, proxy SCD1, were reduced liver adipose tissue supplemented animals. This reduction SCD1 fasting blood glucose concentrations tolerance. In addition, intra-abdominal fat mass adipocyte size resulted ∼3-fold increase GLUT1 gene expression fat. Liver triglyceride content lipogenic by SO. Consistent phenotype, also plasma cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, concentrations. Conclusion: Overall, our data demonstrate phenotype suggest further studies required better understand therapeutic potential
