Subclinical neurological and neuropsychological effect of infection with HIV.

摘要: Thirty one homosexual men with antibody to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) but without major neurological complaints were assessed in a cross sectional study of and neuropsychological function. Eleven patients had AIDS, 10 persistent generalised lymphadenopathy (PGL), HIV infection PGL (called "well"). Thirteen age matched acted as controls. Significant abnormalities found six on clinical examination, eight nerve conduction studies, electroencephalography, assessment, computed tomography the head. Eighteen (nine four PGL, five "well") performed abnormally at least section assessment. The highlights incidence nervous system dysfunction even people who do not have AIDS. Prospective evaluation using electrophysiological imaging techniques is necessary assess natural history such manifestations effect antiviral treatment.
