摘要: Ninety five HIV seropositive and 32 seronegative homosexual men were recruited to a prospective study of the early features natural history neurological manifestations infection. There was no evidence from initial examination, neuropsychological test battery, nerve conduction studies, somatosensory evoked potentials legs, P300 event related auditory potentials, magnetic stimulation motor cortex, or MRI scans that infected without symptoms in CDC groups II/III differed significantly well matched comparison group. Only subgroup IV showed impairment, this restricted their performance on some cognitive tests. The results imply that, despite invasion CNS by HIV, major disturbances function manifest themselves only when patient becomes immunosuppressed. importance an appropriate group awareness potentially confounding influences such as age, education, exposure alcohol drugs, mood anxiety studies is stressed. essentially negative findings are important understanding pathogenesis effect infection design interpretation therapeutic trials.
