摘要: Purpose To evaluate the corneal response to variable intraocular pressure (IOP) in human eye globes after ultraviolet-A (UVA) transepithelial crosslinking using iontophoresis. Setting Fondazione G.B. Bietti IRCCS, Rome, Italy. Design Experimental study. Methods Four donor were treated with iontophoresis and rapid UVA irradiation, 4 had standard crosslinking. Inflation experiments performed on before Topographic maps of anterior posterior cornea acquired Scheimpflug topography. Images obtained a mechanical regimen analyze strain cyclic stress. Corneal shape changes analyzed as function IOP, stress–strain curves generated. Results Before crosslinking, instillation hypotonic riboflavin-5–phosphate sodium 0.1% solution increased thickness by 5% dextran-enriched riboflavin decreased 13%. Five minutes treatment, both procedures reduced 2%. Young's modulus ( E ) mean 1.8 times (from 1.6 2.9 MPa) 1.9 1.3 2.5 MPa) respectively. The value also (mean 1.7 versus 3.1 times). Conclusions Transepithelial biomechanical strength tissue inflation testing globes. effect stiffness was almost comparable that Financial Disclosure No author has financial or proprietary interest any material method mentioned.
