摘要: Abstract Aim The aims of this study were to (1) explore the clinical handover processes between ambulance and ED personnel patients arriving by at one hospital (2) identify factors that impact on information transfer ascertain strategies for improvement. Methods A focused ethnographic approach was used included participant observation, conversational interviews examination tools. Participants paramedics, nurses medical practitioners from an service regional located in South East Queensland, Australia. Grounded theory methods constant comparative data analyses generate categories findings. Findings Two types identified: non-critical critical patients. Quality appears be dependent personnel's expectations, prior experience, workload working relationships. Lack active listening access written identified issues. Conclusion Clinical two organisations with different cultures backgrounds may improved through shared training programmes involving use guidelines, tools such as a whiteboard structured communication model MIST. Future participatory research evaluate new is recommended.
