摘要: Berberine (BBR) is one of the main constituents in Rhizoma coptidis and it has widely been used for treatment diabetic nephropathy. The aims study were to investigate effects mechanism action berberine on renal damage rats. Diabetes hyperglycaemia induced rats by a high-fat diet intraperitoneal injection 40 mg/kg streptozotocin (STZ). Rats randomly divided into 5 groups, such as i) control rats, ii) untreated iii) 250 metformin-treated, iv v) 100 200 berberine-treated treated separately 8 weeks. fasting blood glucose, insulin, total cholesterol, triglyceride, glycosylated hemoglobin measured Kidneys isolated at end histology, Western blot analysis estimation malonaldehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) advanced glycation endproducts (AGEs). results revealed that significantly decreased insulin levels, triglyceride urinary protein excretion, serum creatinine (Scr) urea nitrogen (BUN) histological examinations amelioration diabetes-induced glomerular pathological changes following with berberine. In addition, expressions nephrin podocin increased. It seems likely exerts an ameliorative effect diabetes streptozotocin. possible mechanisms renoprotective may be related inhibition glycosylation improvement antioxidation turn upregulate podocin.
