摘要: Significance: Hyaluronic acid (HA, or hyaluronan) is a ubiquitous naturally occurring polysaccharide that plays role in virtually all tissues vertebrate organisms. HA-based hydrogels have wound-healing properties, support cell delivery, and can deliver drugs locally. Recent Advances: A few HA be customized for composition, physical form, biomechanical properties. No clinically approved hydrogel allows vivo crosslinking on administration, has tunable gelation time to meet needs, enables drug delivery. Recently, thiolated carboxymethyl (CMHA-S) was developed produce crosslinked hydrogels, sponges, thin films. CMHA-S with thiol-reactive crosslinker by oxidative disulfide bond formation form hydrogels. By controlled crosslinking, the shape of this material manipulated. These subsequently lyophilized sponges air-dried films, liquids, gels been shown effective treating various injuries wounds eye veterinary use, are clinical development human use. Critical Issues: Better therapies needed treat ophthalmic injuries. Corneal treated using hydrogel. biomaterials help heal ocular surface defects, formed into film local could autologous limbal stem cells extreme damage associated deficiencies. Future Directions: This increases options available improved wound care, healing, regenerative medicine.
