摘要: Malignant astrocytomas are highly invasive brain tumors that portend poor prognosis and dismal survival. Mouse models genetically resemble the human malignancy provide insight into nature pathogenesis of these cancers. We previously reported tumor suppressor mouse based on conditional inactivation astrocytoma-relevant genes p53, Nf1, Pten. These mice develop, with full penetrance, varying grades astrocytic recapitulate condition histologically molecularly. Our studies indicate a central role for neural stem cells stem-cell-like cancer in initiation progression. thus represent powerful tools investigating various aspects development otherwise cannot be explored humans. Further will better understanding biology hopefully pave way more effective therapeutic approaches devastating diseases.
