摘要: PURPOSE To evaluate and describe the neuroimaging findings of patients with neurosyphilis. METHODS The studies 35 documented neurosyphilis were reviewed. Diagnosis was established in 34 cerebrospinal fluid for a Venereal Disease Research Laboratory test, complemented by autopsy 1 brain biopsy 1. All had reactive fluorescent treponemal antibody tests absorption their sera. Imaging included plain contrast-enhanced CT brain, gadolinium-enhanced MR, MR angiography, conventional angiography. also correlated relevant pathologic at three additional who did not have imaging studies. RESULTS Of studies, 32 tested human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-seropositive, 3 HIV-seronegative. Eleven (31%) normal radiographic findings. Cerebral infarctions seen 8 (23%) patients, nonspecific white matter lesions 7 (20%) 35. gummas extraaxial enhancement indicating meningitis noted 2 (6%) respectively. Arteritis demonstrated (50%) 4 underwent either angiography or subjects but found to manifestations meningovascular syphilis, including syphilitic leptomeningitis an obliterative endarteritis. CONCLUSION We conclude that vascular occlusive disease manifested as infarction arteritis, enhancing cortical without adjacent meningeal enhancement, focal diffuse disease, although nonspecific, proper clinical setting should prompt appropriate testing neurosyphilis, treatable HIV infection.
