摘要: Similarity between related genomes may carry information on selective constraint in each of them. We analysed patterns similarity several homologous regions Caenorhabditis elegans and C. briggsae genomes. All exons are quite similar. Alignments introns intergenic sequences contain long gaps, segments where is low close to that random aligned using the same parameters, high similarity. Conservative estimates fractions selectively constrained nucleotides 72%, 17% 18% for exons, sequences, respectively. This implies total number within non-coding comparable coding so at least one-third under strong stabilizing selection.
