摘要: Viruses of the family Coronaviridae have recently emerged through zoonotic transmission to become serious human pathogens. The pathogenic agent responsible for severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV), is a member this large positive-strand RNA viruses that cause spectrum disease in humans, other mammals, and birds. Since publicized outbreaks China Canada 2002-2003, significant efforts successfully identified causative agent, host cell receptor(s), many mechanisms underlying SARS. With greater understanding SARS-CoV biology, researchers sought identify agents treatment Here we report utility potent antiviral protein griffithsin (GRFT) prevention infection both vitro vivo. We also show GRFT specifically binds spike glycoprotein inhibits viral entry. In addition, activity against variety additional coronaviruses infect Finally, has positive effect on morbidity mortality lethal model using mouse-adapted deleterious aspects immunological response mammals.
