摘要: The Children's Television Act of 1990 requires broadcasters to provide programming that furthers the development children. purpose this study was examine second through sixth grade children's learning from educational programs broadcast by affiliates ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX compared PBS Nickelodeon. Using Internet as a data collection tool, 97 children in locations throughout US reported their viewing patterns informational programs. Children viewed about four different week, primarily Nickelodeon PBS, with strength reports being comparable for commercial vs. cable/PBS offerings. more social emotional lessons knowledge information than cognitive skills or physical well-being lessons. results indicate many are value mandated Act. implication is governmental regulation television measurable benefits child viewers.
