摘要: PURPOSE This study evaluates the effectiveness of cranial CT and MR in detecting autopsy findings AIDS-related CNS cryptococcosis. METHODS Final imaging studies compared with pathology were eight patients (five contrast) five (all Gd-DTPA). RESULTS Neither modality effectively identified cryptococcal meningitis. Punctate hyperintensities seen all corresponded pathologically to both perivascular spaces dilated by infection cryptococcomas. Pathologically, cryptococcomas more common than spaces. detected did CT, but modalities underestimated number lesions at autopsy. Contrast enhancement meningitis was uncommon. CONCLUSIONS cryptococcosis demonstrated pathologic extent disease. Cryptococcal lesion contrast unusual possibly because immunocompromised state our unique characteristics organism itself.
