摘要: SummaryBackground The clinical utility of serum periostin as a type 2 biomarker in asthma is limited by lack reference range values derived from population without respiratory disease. Objective To derive age- and sex-related intervals for an adult or COPD. Methods Serum levels were measured 480 individuals, comprising 60 female male adults each the 18- to 30-year, 31- 45-year, 46- 60-year 61- 75-year age groups. Key exclusion criteria included doctor's diagnosis asthma, chronic bronchitis COPD, history wheezing use inhalers last 12 months. The distribution logarithm-transformed was derived, 90% confidence individual prediction calculated. Results The right skewed with mean (SD) 51.2 (11.9) ng/mL, median (IQR) 50.1 (43.1 56.9) ng/mL 28.1 136.4 ng/mL. There no association between logarithm sex, although low current smokers. limits 35.0 71.1 ng/mL. Conclusions Clinical Relevance Serum COPD are similar those asthma. Serum measurements do not need be adjusted take account patient's lower Reference provided.
