摘要: Purpose Although treatment of cleft lip and palate is becoming standardized, alveolar remains controversial. Thus, preclinical animal work necessary to improve clinical outcome. This study established an model in the rat. Materials Methods Maxillary first molars were extracted create a 4- × 3-mm complete on right left sides 25 8-week-old Sprague-Dawley rats. The was filled with bone wax side remained untreated. Animals sacrificed at 0, 4 8 weeks after surgery. Harvested samples evaluated by micro-computed tomographic histologic analyses. Results healing rate osteoblast activity less than those cleft. Conclusion critical-size can be used efficiently for therapeutic evaluation novel techniques
