摘要: The flagellum of trypanosomatids contains two major structural elements, the microtubular axoneme, which is mechanochemical motor cell, and paraflagellar rod (PFR), a highly organized, three-dimensional fiber network unknown function. Its occurrence limited to few groups unicellular eukaryotes, Euglenoids, Dinoflagellates, Kinetoplastids. PFR trypanosomes consists similar proteins approximate molecular masses 69 73 kDa. This laboratory others have earlier characterized genes coding for 69-kDa species in Trypanosoma brucei cruzi. present study reports characterization 73-kDa protein from T. brucei. Their gene product, PFR-C, closely related to, but clearly distinct from, kDa PFR-A. finding indicates that fibers might represent heteropolymers formed by PFR-A akin situation seen microtubules or intermediate filaments. PFR-C are each coded similarly organized cluster four spaced, tandemly arranged genes. 5'-untranslated region first different those following three genes, identical among other. Conversely, 3'-untranslated regions identical, while corresponding fourth different. unusual organization leads generation mRNAs contain sequences 5'- 3'-noncoding regions.
