摘要: STUDY OBJECTIVES: Studies to assess the risks associated with sleep loss relative well-documented of alcohol are limited in number and design. This study compared the"dose"-related sedative, performance-impairing, amnestic effects those ethanol ingestion. DESIGN: Mixed-design experiment random assignment a (n=12) or (n=20) group, each participant assessed under 4 conditions. PARTICIPANTS: Thirty-two healthy normal adult volunteers, aged 21 35 years. INTERVENTIONS: In loss, participants had 8, 6, 4, 0 hours time bed, producing 0, 2, 8 loss. For ethanol, ingested 0.0 g/kg, 0.3 0.6 0.9 g/kg from 8:30 AM 9:00 after bed previous night. Each received his her doses Latin square design 3 7 days between doses. MEASUREMENTS: All subjects completed Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT) at 9:30 AM, 11:30 1:30 PM, 3:30 5:30 PM performance battery 10:00 12:00 NOON, 2:00 4:00 consisting memory, psychomotor vigilance, divided attention tests. RESULTS: Ethanol reduced average daily latency on MSLT, both as linear function dose, being 2.7 times more potent than grams per kilogram. also slowed reaction vigilance test dose-related 2 equipotent their impairing effect. On test, tracking deviations were increased by an function. Memory recall was slightly potent. Finally, produced decrease self-rated quality performance, while only highest dose rated poorer. CONCLUSIONS: At studied doses, its sedative but comparable performance. greater memory deficits, less aware overall impairment. Language: en
