摘要: c-AMP dependent protein kinase (protein A, PKA) is an important enzyme involved in the regulation of increasing number physiological processes including immune function, cardiovascular disease, memory disorders and cancer. The objective this study was to evaluate PKA inhibitory activity a range algal extracts, along with their fatty acid composition. Six species were investigated two Chlorophyta (Codium dimorphum Ulva lactuca), Phaeophyta (Phyllospora comosa Sargassum sp.) Rhodophyta (Prionitis linearis Corallina vancouveriensis), order extracts identified as follows: brown seaweeds > red green alga sp. exhibiting highest (84% at 100 microg/mL). GC/MS analysis total 18 acids six accounting for 72-87% each extract, hexadecanoic 9,12-octadecadienoic dominant components. most active extract (Sargassum also contained percentage saturated C14:0 (12.8% extract), which known inhibit PKA. These results provide first description marine algae composition these from South Eastern Australian waters. Importantly, reveals that abundant readily available are new relatively unexplored source compounds.
