摘要: Ocimum sanctum L. (Labiatae), a plant with various medicinal properties, has been investigated against human fibrosarcoma cells (HFS cells) in culture. Treatment an ethanolic extract of induced cytotoxicity at 50 � g/ml and above. Morphologically the showed shrunken cytoplasm condensed nuclei. The DNA was found to be fragmented on observation agarose gel electrophoresis. Biochemically extract-treated HFS depleted intracellular glutathione increased levels lipid peroxidation products. Administration aqueous extracts mice bearing Sarcoma-180 solid tumors mediated significant reduction tumor volume increase lifespan. These observations clearly indicate possess anticancer activity.
