摘要: Background: Watercress is a semi-aquatic plant used in traditional medicine to treat various ailments, such as flu, cough, avitaminosis, and anorexia; it also diuretic for hypoglycemia treatment diabetes. In this study, we report the antioxidant hypoglycemic activity of orally administered aqueous (WAQE), acetonic (WAE), alcoholic (WOHE) watercress extracts. The effect subchronic administration extracts on oxidative stress was studied. Materials Methods: WAQE, WAE, WOHE were obtained orally. Alloxan (200 mg/kg) streptozotocin (60 applied induce hyperglycemia male Wistar rats. Phenolic flavonoid content, well measured. acute effects (8 weeks) WAQE evaluated. enzymes levels malondialdehyde, hepatic enzyme markers serum, renal function markers, assessed. Histopathological evaluation pancreas, kidney, liver performed using hematoxylin-eosin staining. Results: have high concentrations phenols, polyphenols, flavonoids, addition very effect. upon 76.6% higher than that insulin. When chronically, glucose normalized third week up eighth week. Furthermore, biochemical parameters improved. Conclusion: diabetic rats reduced damage decreased levels. This study supports use
