Correlates of postpartum alcohol use.

摘要: OBJECTIVE The purposes of this investigation are to (1) describe drinking patterns among women attending a postpartum visit, and (2) identify correlates "at risk" drinking. METHODS A survey was completed by 8706 at their visit. We identified drinking, defined as binge (4 or more drinks per occasion least once in the past month) consuming an average > =7 drinks/wk. RESULTS total 997 (12%) reported At risk drinkers were likely than other have been frequent prior pregnancy (> drinks/wk), scored 1 2 on CAGE, smoked postpartum, unmarried. Black women, those over age 35, "stay-at-home mothers," having breastfed less report CONCLUSION This study supports routine alcohol screening visit with obstetrician.
