摘要: Management of localized breast cancer now commonly involves a breast-sparing approach combined with systemic adjuvant therapy resulting in improved cosmetic results and patient survival. Reducing dietary fat intake represents conceptually new to further improve outcome patients resected cancer. The rationale supporting evaluation reduction the management is based on: (1) epidemiologic observations (along biochemical hormonal correlates) major differences stage-by-stage survival comparing countries low (Japan) versus high (U.S.A.) intakes; (2) relationships between factors prognostic clinical established cancer; (3) effects weight gain (especially that associated chemotherapy) on outcome; (4)in vivo animal studies demonstrating adverse influence increased linoleic acid) growth metastatic spread mammary (5) direct acid human growthin vitro; (6) plausible mechanisms which could mediate spread; (7) demonstration adherence regimens ongoing feasibility including those involving postmenopausal (8) favorable sample size requirements for definitive assessment metastases (using as endpoints relapse-free overall survival) disease.
