Multi-Parameter Sensing Using a Fiber Bragg Grating Inscribed in Dual-Mode Fiber

摘要: We propose a method for simultaneous measurement of strain, temperature, and surrounding refractive index (SRI) using fiber Bragg grating (FBG) inscribed in dual-mode by femtosecond laser. This FBG not only possesses two resonances corresponding to LP01 LP11 modes, respectively, but also shows many strong cladding mode resonances, which are sensitive SRI. Due the different responses, SRI can be discriminated simultaneously measuring resonance wavelengths normalized area resonances. The estimated resolutions this $\pm 6.3~\mu \varepsilon $ , ±0.8 °C, ±2.7 $\times 10^{-5}$ RIU, respectively.
