摘要: Abstract Selected cercaria-related conditions were tested for their influence on penetration and maturation of Schistosoma mansoni in mice: cercarial postemergence age; sex; miracidial ancestry terms numbers larvae used at snail exposures; maintenance temperature snails during development; duration patency infections; purpurin staining preacetabular glands. Criteria devised assessing the maximal, minimal, average worm burdens per 50-cercaria test sample (or mouse), percentage adult schistosomes sample, samples which least 45 50 cercariae penetrated, variability each condition tested. The most sensitive criteria with a high number penetrants, minimal among samples. All influential by some except potential sex cercariae. Preacetabular gland infections affected both all criteria; age developmental influenced maximum sample.
