摘要: A total of 146 patients were identified from a prospective database all hip fractures over 10-year period at United Kingdom teaching hospital. The financial costs calculated and analysed then compared with the money recovered through tariff produced by Payment Results.A 62% study group female; mean age 79 years; length stay 39 days.Fractures occurred around replacement (THR) in 63 cases, revision THR 27 cases hemiarthroplasty 56 cases. Fixation fracture was performed 61 arthroplasty 62 23 treated non-operatively.The cost treatment £23,469 per patient (range £615–£223,000; median £18,031). Ward responsible for 80.3%, theatre 5.7%, implants 6.7% investigations 7.3%. difference statistically significant when further surgery required (p = 0.01) greater than 30 days < 0.0001), Trust(mean £3702; p 0.0001).
