A two-step continuous ultrasound assisted production of biodiesel fuel from waste cooking oils: a practical and economical approach to produce high quality biodiesel fuel.

摘要: A transesterification reaction of waste cooking oils (WCO) with methanol in the presence a potassium hydroxide catalyst was performed continuous ultrasonic reactor low-frequency 20 kHz input capacity 1 kW, two-step process. For first step, carried out molar ratio to WCO 2.5:1, and amount 0.7 wt.%. The yield fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) about 81%. FAME around 99% attained second step initial 1.5:1, 0.3 extremely high even at short residence time reactants (less than min for two steps) ambient temperature, total required produce biodiesel 15 h. quality final product meets standards JIS K2390 EN 14214 fuel.
