摘要: Desipramine and several other tricyclic antidepressant drugs reverse chloroquine resistance in Plasmodium falciparum vitro at concentrations observed the plasma of human patients treated for depression. Reversal is associated with increased accumulation parasite, probably because inhibition a putative efflux pump. When owl monkeys (Aotus lemurinus lemurinus) infected chloroquine-resistant were plus desipramine, their parasitemias rapidly suppressed. was found to be one most effective compounds yet described reversal both vivo.
