摘要: The three most difficult problems in making picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) a clinical reality radiology are image archiving, very high-resolution display stations, high-speed networking. This article considers transmission through high-capacity network. Our laboratory has tested several commercially available networks over the past year. Only one of these (UltraNet) adequate throughput capacity potential necessary for our PACS. focus this experiment is to determine characteristics star topology networking scheme as they relate operation PACS environment. A large-scale test was done gauge network performance configurations modeling those PACS: duplex, parallel, relay. Ten computers used (Sun 3 4 computers) were connected with UltraNet. For point-to-point (half-duplex model), delivers up 3.1 megabytes/sec Sun 6.8 Sparcserver 490. As regards considerations (parallel five parallel transfer processes generated maximum 13.9 slight degradation individual process observed (1.4%). With regard shared access high-contention resources on (e.g., archive servers), demonstrated equal sharing server between various client computers. encouraging results experiment, we believe that UltraNet will be sufficient requirements We proceeding implementation backbone extended
