摘要: It is known that oil paintings containing zinc white are subject to rapid degradation. This caused by the interaction between active groups of binder and metal ions pigment, which gives rise formation new complexes (metal soaps). Ongoing studies on paints have been limited chemical mechanisms lead complexes. On contrary, little photo-physical changes induced in oxide crystal structure following this interaction. Time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy has applied follow modifications luminescent pigment when mixed with binder. Significant trap state emissions detected: enhancement a blue emission combined change decay kinetic well-known green emission. Complementary data from molecular analysis using Fourier transform infrared confirms carboxylates corroborates mechanism for formation. We support hypothesis migrate into creating novel vacancies, affecting intensity lifetime properties oxide. Here, we further demonstrate advantages time-resolved approach studying defects semiconductor pigments.
