摘要: Corsica is a French Mediterranean island with traditional extensive pig farming oriented towards the production of high quality cured meat products. The increasing success these products in continental Europe has triggered development and organisation an industry. However, practices have seldom been described analysed to understand potential risk introduction spread infectious diseases. We conducted cross-sectional study 2013 characterise main management identify groups farms similar therefore homogeneous interviewed 68 farmers investigated different farm which could lead contact between herds, such as trading animals, sharing pastures, feed reproduction (direct contacts), slaughtering carcass waste management, contacts people vehicles (indirect contacts). were grouped by multiple factor hierarchical clustering analyses. Results revealed interesting patterns disease, seasonality production, local diseases pastures due presence free-ranging boars, carcasses, animal waste. Multivariate analyses identified four levels illustrating changes farmers’ customs from free-range uncontrolled systems more controlled aimed at pork These results will be useful realistically simulate among Corsican highlight need for awareness raising campaigns stakeholders reduce risky practices.
