Schistosomiasis therapeutics: whats in the pipeline?

摘要: Schistosomiasis is a debilitating neglected tropical disease caused by schistosome worms. Global efforts to control schistosomiasis rely predominantly on mass drug administration of the praziquantel populations at risk infection. We review history development and current position research. conclude that with no additional candidates currently in anti-schistosome clinical trial pipeline, practical necessary approach optimise health benefits from praziquantel. offer suggestions where how this can be achieved. also highlight knowledge gaps utility particularly treatment chronic schistosomiasis, which includes fibrosis, organomegaly cervical lesions associated female genital schistosomiasis.
