摘要: Abstract The pathogenesis of disease resulting from exposure to diesel exhaust particles (DEP) is often studied using cultured lung cells. Frequently, researchers expose cells DEP by spiking a suspension in liquid onto the apical surface. This not representative vivo exposure, where aerosols are deposited cell surfaces at air–liquid interface (ALI). Inertial impaction provides an opportunity deliver high doses with aerodynamic diameters >∼1 μm surface seconds reproducible and predictable manner. A custom device was constructed deposit Calu-3 A549 grown ALI. pro-inflammatory toxic cellular response measured compared exposed as suspensions. showed evidence oxidative stress for both types, while there strong suggest that method aerosol delivery harmful
