摘要: Abstract Goniothalamin (GTN) is a styrylpyrrone derivative from Goniothalamus umbrosus and other Annonaceae species. It has been shown to have anti-cancer apoptosis-inducing properties against various human tumour animal cell lines. The compound also be active in vivo DMBA-induced rat mammary tumours was reported as an anti-fertility agent rats. aim of our study assess the genotoxicity GTN CHO cells using UKEMS guidelines. A metabolic activation fraction (S9) prepared according standard methods. methylthiazoletetrazolium (MTT) screening assay then carried out determine cytotoxicity index (IC 50 ) GTN. average IC value 12.45 (± 3.63) μM. mitotic (MI) performed clastogenicity indices (MI C25 , MI C50 C100 chromosome aberration (CA) induction air-dried metaphase spread investigate clastogenic effects goniothalamin. Benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) ethylmethanesulphonate (EMS) were used positive controls presence absence S9 activation, respectively. anti-genotoxicity effect assessed combination EMS, BaP. Dose–responses CA frequencies determined for both, effects. on its own when combined with controls, found induce enhance CA, Chromatid whole breaks/gaps, well interchanges, endoreduplications ring chromosomes main types induced by overall statistically significant. In conclusion, potentially genotoxic or substance without any anti-genotoxic properties.
