摘要: When the vertical boundaries of a container stratified brine solution are heated, cells observed to form in with layered structure. An explanation this phenomenon has been given terms successive growth from top and bottom container. alternative is here which based on an examination stability fluid layer neighbourhood boundaries, there exist horizontal gradients both temperature salinity, subjected comparison carefully controlled laboratory experiment. The theoretical description fairly general it seems possible that effects salinity temperature, approximately compensate each other so as leave no density gradient, may be important ocean, suggested by Stern (1967).
