摘要: HIV-1-infected patients have low circulating tryptophan concentrations despite evidence of adequate dietary intake this essential amino acid. A chronic increase in inducible oxidation is the basis HIV-1-associated depletion. This metabolic process results irretrievable loss molecules from available pool. Such sustained disruption normal metabolism over time disturbs many processes involving acid, and has been implicated some features AIDS pathogenesis. Normal T-cell function adversely affected by depletion, but extent effect still unclear. Attempting to directly supplement not advised given potential neurotoxic intermediates. Although only preliminary data are available, suggests that antiretroviral nicotinamide treatments can boost plasma impact secondary effects Additional study could lead improved treatment strategies for with HIV infection. In review I focus on links between disturbed
