Is Kawasaki disease incidence rising in Chandigarh, North India?

摘要: Objective To estimate incidence of Kawasaki disease (KD) over time among children in the city Chandigarh, North India. Patients and methods We analysed records all with KD below 15 years age at Pediatric Allergy Immunology Unit, Advanced Pediatrics Centre, Post Graduate Institute Medical Education Research, from January 1994 to December 2008. Diagnosis treatment were based on American Heart Association criteria. Among these cases, residing Chandigarh identified. Yearly was calculated compared Results During this period, 196 diagnosed as KD. Of these, 80 (40.8%; 48 boys, 32 girls) resided Chandigarh. Four had coronary artery abnormalities (CAA) echocardiography, while two mitral regurgitation. Comparison yearly data revealed increasing 0.51 cases 4.54 per 100 000 2007. Majority (93.7%) occurred ≤10 highest reported seventh year life. Monthly distribution showed peaks a maximum number presenting October followed by second peak May nadir month February. Conclusion Increasing could be due clinical recognition result greater awareness paediatricians city, or may represent an actual increase numbers.
