摘要: Using a murine respiratory challenge model we have previously demonstrated role for Th1 cells in natural immunity against Bordetella pertussis, but could not rule out antibody. Here that B. pertussis infection of mice with targeted disruptions the genes IFN-γ receptor resulted an atypical disseminated disease which was lethal proportion animals, and characterized by pyogranulomatous inflammation postnecrotic scarring livers, mesenteric lymph nodes kidneys. Viable virulent bacteria were detected blood livers diseased animals. An examination course lung receptor–deficient, IL-4–deficient wild-type lack functional or IL-4, cytokines are considered to play major roles regulating development Th2 cells, respectively, did affect kinetics bacterial elimination from lung. In contrast, B cell–deficient developed persistent failed clear after aerosol inoculation. These findings demonstrate absolute requirement their products resolution primary also define critical containing mucosal site infection.
