摘要: Abstract A comparison of activities associated with Escherichia coli polymerase I, calf thymus 6 to 8 S DNA and 3.4 demonstrates that neither exonuclease activity nor pyrophosphorolysis is essential for polymerization. The enzyme has no demonstrable 3'- 5'-exonuclease cannot carry out pyrophosphate exchange. Under these conditions phosphodiester bond formation kinetically irreversible.
