摘要: Three methods for identifying, characterizing, and controlling active sonar clutter are described demonstrated on broadband, low-frequency (<;1800 Hz) normalized data collected in two range-dependent, shallow-water environments: the Malta Plateau off Sicily Stanton Banks Scotland. One method examines short time-scale persistence to stabilize/minimize coherent propagation effects. A second correlates strong echoes with depth-weighted topographic slope (relative sonar) help predict significant scatterers. third involves moment-based statistical measures [Poisson-Rayleigh-inspired (PRIM), K-distribution shape parameter, kurtosis] distinguish between spatially compact extended objects. As illustrated isolation of several anthropogenic objects from widespread Plateau, new Poisson-Rayleigh (P-R)-based appears offer some promise regards reducing false alarm rate.
