摘要: BACKGROUND Combined with vitreoretinal surgery, silicone oil injection has become a standard technique and improves the prognosis of complex retinal detachment. As leads to long term complications, removal from eye is recommended. To evaluate outcome after removal, redetachment, visual acuity, complications were analysed. METHODS The authors analysed 115 consecutive cases (115 eyes), all operated by one surgeon. series consisted detachments associated proliferative vitreoretinopathy (103 diabetic retinopathy (six or ocular trauma eyes). mean duration intraocular tamponade was 13.3 months, postoperative follow up 1.8 years. RESULTS Anatomic success defined as complete attachment, achieved in 95 eyes (82.6%). Redetachment occurred 20 (17.4%), mostly within first 6 months removal. Including successfully reoperated eyes, present final anatomic rate 108 (93.9%). Visual acuity improved remained unchanged 93 (80.9%). CONCLUSION While reattachment complication rates quite similar other studies, better these cases. had no significant effect on rate. recommend not apply criteria for timing but decide individually, considering underlying disease, well previous operations.
