摘要: Different classes of fibres differ in their potential to lower lipid levels. In order examine how chemically diverse hypolipidaemic activity, mucilages varying chemical composition isolated from three different sources were administered experimental animals and the metabolism lipids lipoproteins was studied. The used a galactomannan fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) seeds, glucomannan Dioscorea esculenta tubers an arabinogalactan Colocasia tubers. Rats fed these at dose 4 mg/100 g body weight per d for 8 weeks changes levels total cholesterol triacylglycerols serum, liver aorta analysed. All decreased both serum tissues. Among mucilages, showed most effect followed by arabinogalactan. Further, hepatocytes livers mucilage-fed rats synthesis secretion studied using metabolic labelling. There decrease apoB-containing lipoproteins, mainly VLDL, when compared control (P < 0·05). This further confirmed pulse chase analysis. mannose-rich galactomannan, mannose-free minimal effect. Comparison relative viscosity water-holding capacity that mannan-rich like glucomannan, which greater effect, had capacity. present results suggested dietary fibre involves hepatic production VLDL it varies with nature fibre.
