摘要: The myelin-associated/oligodendrocyte basic proteins (MOBPs) are recently discovered constituents of myelin and small, cytoplasmic, highly exclusively expressed postnatally by oligodendrocytes. Due to a clustering positively charged amino acids observed in the most abundant MOBP isoform similar protein (MBP) P0, it was speculated that could function sheath compaction. present report strongly supports this view. A direct comparison MBP proteolipid (PLP) gene expression with situ hybridization revealed very regional distribution. It found rat CNS at postnatal day 15 (P 15) but is restricted densely myelinated regions. In contrast PLP, undetectable peripheral nervous system during entire development. Interestingly, mRNA localized oligodendrocyte processes even early stages throughout showed specific timing expression: spinal cord brain, occurred significantly later (2-3 days) than slightly earlier glycoprotein expression. appeared brain stem also after protein, suggesting MOBPs functionally act structural PLP. Our findings imply late steps formation, presumably initiation
