摘要: The matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and the tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase (TIMPs) have been associated with tumor invasion metastasis in many human cancers. Immunohistochemical studies were performed on frozen samples from 42 patients invasive bladder cancer treated by cystectomy monoclonal antibodies against M r 72,000 gelatinase A (MMP-2), 92,000 B (MMP-9), TIMP-2 to evaluate their significance cancer. Immunoreactivity for gelatinases was predominantly cell-associated, whereas strong staining mostly detected stroma. Tumor cells demonstrated moderate reactivity MMP-2 MMP-9 71 71% cases, respectively, which did not correlate stage, grade, or outcome. positive 26 (62%) this correlated a worse outcome (69 versus 25% died disease; P < 0.05). In 31 (74%) 42, there stromal TIMP-2; also poor (65 cancer; basement membrane (BM) status investigated using an antibody type IV collagen. 9 nests surrounded intact BM; 7 these, absent. None these (0%) tumors compared (100%) complete loss BM ( 0.001). These results suggest potential role as prognostic indicators
