摘要: Tau protein has been shown to be an integral component of Alzheimer paired helical filaments (PHF). However, the extent which tau is incorporated into PHF not clear because antibodies used label generally do have precisely defined epitopes. Here we define antigenic sites for five monoclonal that react with and cross-react SDS-extracted neurofibrillary tangles. The reactive were determined by screening a lambda gt11 sublibrary expressing small fragments sequence. mapped epitopes found span almost entire length tau, suggesting contains in its entirety or nearly entirety. One antibody was microtubule-associated 2, implying some degree homology between two proteins.
