摘要: Oxidative stress is involved in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases. Astrocytes, most abundant glial cells brain, protect neurons from reactive oxygen species (ROS) provide them with trophic support, glial-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF). Thus, any damage to astrocytes will affect neuronal survival. In present study, by activity-guided fractionation, we have purified desert plant Pulicaria incisa two protective compounds determined their structures spectroscopic methods. The were found be new chalcones—pulichalconoid B pulichalconoid C. This first study characterize antioxidant effects these biological system. Using primary cultures astrocytes, that attenuated accumulation ROS following treatment hydrogen peroxide 89% prevented H2O2-induced death astrocytes. Pulichalconoid exhibited an effect both vitro cellular assay microglial cells. also caused a fourfold increase GDNF transcription this chalcone deserves further studies order evaluate if beneficial therapeutic exists.
