摘要: Abstract Within the context of radiotherapy our work investigates feasibility identifying changes in structural and biomechanical properties pericardium resulting from exposure to penetrating photon irradiation. Collagen fibres extracted bovine were chosen as a model extracellular matrix these form main fibrous component medium. Tests mechanical properties, controlled by various elements tissues, performed on frontal pericardium, including uni-axial tests atomic force microscopy (AFM). While irradiated collagen showed no significant change D-band spacing up doses 80 Gy, fibre width was found increase 34 ± 9% at 80 Gy when compared with that for un-irradiated samples.
