摘要: Vocalizations can be markers of emotional social communication. Maternal potentiation was originally described as an increased rate vocalization by isolated rat pups following interaction with their mothers, but not other companions. Here we asked if in prairie voles, a species pair-bonding and bi-parental rearing, is parent-specific. We found that isolated, 8-11-day-old voles exhibited reunions the dam, sire. These responses were present whether parents anesthetized or active during reunion. There no significant correlations between parental behaviors pup rates re-isolation. The absence to sire contrasts findings bi-parentally reared pups, which do potentiate vocalizations interpret these results consistent idea reflects disruption mother-infant coregulation dependent upon unique biology mothering. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
